Spring Term is now complete! Well done everyone.
Owlets had a very busy last week – taking part in their first School Sports Partnership event: Multi-Skills at Eaton College. They were enthusiastic and so well behaved representing their school for the first time – we were very proud, well done to them all. The activities tested all their motor skills and included balance on bikes. They did really well.
They have also been busy with Easter crafts including making chocolate cornflake cakes and we had a surprise visit from the Easter Bunny who filled their nests with mini-eggs!
Eagle Owls have begun their research into mosaics and are creating a page in their sketch books on what they find.
Barn Owls enjoyed their Friday BIG maths challenge where they have to answer 10 questions in less than 10 minutes!
Barn Owls are planning their own tour guides for a sight seeing visit to Norwich. This week they have started to design their front covers.
In Snowy Owls the children have been looking at how a quarter is represented using different manipulatives.
Year 1 have been applying their measuring skills to complete lots of Jack and the Beanstalk measuring activities this week.
They have also been researching photosynthesis and have written a report on what they have found.
In art the pupils have been looking at Vincent Van Gogh sunflowers. We added PVA glue to our paint to create a thick texture like Van Gogh’s paintings.
Owlets have been learning how to do the Hokey Cokey in their music lessons!
In phonics they have been practicing sentence writing and in maths we have been looking at ‘Pairs’ including pairing up lots of socks!
The Barn Owls enjoyed watching the BBC Live Lesson all about Forces on Monday as part of British Science Week. They had fun completing the activities and particularly liked listening to the astronauts and scientists talking about their work.
Year 1 have started their new unit of work on measure in maths. We compared the length of objects in class and outside.
Snowy class have been learning about shading and shadow in art this week.
Owlets have been learning about the Rainforest and how humans are cutting down trees. We made posters to help save the animals that live there.
We also celebrated Red Nose Day on Friday and made our own red noses!
