Welcome Back! We hope that you all had a lovely Easter break and are ready for the summer term!
In French Barn Owls are studying animals and made posters of the vocabulary.
As an end of topic project, the Barn Owls had an Easter challenge to make their own Norwich Snapdragons with a moving, snapping mouth. So many children took part and the results were fabulous!
Spring Term is now complete! Well done everyone.
This week the Barn Owls finished presenting their biographies about famous people from Norwich. They are all on display in the classroom. Are there any surprises that you didn’t know came from Norwich?
Barn Owls enjoyed their Friday BIG maths challenge where they have to answer 10 questions in less than 10 minutes!
Barn Owls are planning their own tour guides for a sight seeing visit to Norwich. This week they have started to design their front covers.
The Barn Owls enjoyed watching the BBC Live Lesson all about Forces on Monday as part of British Science Week. They had fun completing the activities and particularly liked listening to the astronauts and scientists talking about their work.
This week the whole school dressed up for Crazy Clothes Day ( a fund-raising initiative for the local Little Lifts identified by Verity in Year 5) – please see the Newsletter for a link with more information.
Barn Owls have completed their ‘Hodgeheg’ inspired quest stories and have presented them as books.
Barn Owls also enjoyed a visit to Norwich where they visited the Bridewell Museum and the Castle Museum to support their Norwich Through the Ages topic. They were presented with a selection of artefacts and had to try to identify their use from the past.
We always enjoy World Book Day and this year was no different. Snowy Owls join with Barn Owls and snuggle together reading a selection of books in their great outfits! Pupils and parents are fantastic at producing the most amazing costumes and vegetable characters! Well done and thank you!
This week the Barn Owls have been using the TSN Magnets Kit to do lots of scientific investigating. They discovered which materials are magnetic and they conducted an experiment to find the strongest magnet.
They particularly enjoyed Friday afternoon when they made their own magnetic mazes.
Can you believe we are halfway through the year already! We ended this half term with a lovely Day of Calm run by our School Sports Partnership, Suzy. She taught different techniques that will help our pupils with wellbeing and good mental health. They ranged from free drawing to different musical tracks, breathing techniques, Tai Chi and slow careful movements to focus the mind away from worries, listening very carefully to a sound until it can’t be heard any longer and laying still with concentration on our surroundings and own breathing. We value skills for life and hope that our pupils can take something away from their session today, that may help them to find a calm inner peace and to support in times of anxiety.
