Barn Owls

WB 30 10 2023

KS2 were excited to have a Music Worldwide Workshop on Tuesday. They got to work with Pedro Espi-Sanchis. He performed with a wide range of unexpected instruments, from pipes made from kelp to a bow with a gourd threaded onto it to make a stringed instrument. We learnt how even in the most remote village in South Africa they can make music from everything that they have!

Then on Friday we were able to transport 42 children from across KS2 to the annual Cross Country Competition at Earlham Park. Well done to all that took part and to parents who were able to come and support.

What a lovely end to the first half term – our Harvest Assembly. Thank you all so much for your donations and for braving the torrential rain to join us! Have a great half term.

Barn Owls have been enjoying music and this week concluded their ABBA lessons with a dressing up sing-a-long!

They have also been reading The Time Travelling Cat and the Egyptian Goddess and then researched the importance of cats in Egyptian culture.

WB 09 10 2023

The Barn Owls have learnt about Ancient Egyptian Hieroglyphs. They used this to write their name as a cartouche and are now using them as bookmarks.

After their visit from the dentist last week, the Barn Owls created information posters explaining how to keep teeth healthy.

WB 02 10 2023

Barn Owls are enjoying their music at the moment and are developing their rhythm and tempo with different warm up dances. They are keeping a tune with the glockenspiels and play along with the Charanga videos.  They are also learning Mamma Mia by ABBA and we enjoy hearing them singing along!

WB 25 09 2023

In Science this week in Barn Owls we learnt about what is inside a tooth. We made a cross section diagram to show what we had learnt.

In RE the Barn Owls are learning about Judaism. This week they decorated cupcakes to represent the story of Moses parting the Red Sea.

WB 18 09 2023

This week in Barn Owls they read the story ‘Rock and Roll’ by Hazel Terry. This inspired them to make their own ‘Positivity Pebbles’.  They have also begun looking closely at Teeth in Science and in particular how many teeth we have. They made their own teeth model using marshmallows!

WB 11 09 2023

Barn Owls have started their new History and Science Topics and they have created title pages for both of them.

WB 17 07 2023

While the whole school enjoy the annual Den Day – in good weather – we reflect on another fantastic year at Little Melton.  We enjoyed the Leavers Performance on Wednesday evening and then Friday was a busy day- bidding a fond farewell to our lovely Year 6 pupils who have done us proud for 7 years, and celebrating the end of another year of learning for our youngsters. THANK YOU all for your wonderful gifts and well wishes, and we wish you all a fabulous summer break ❤️
