Barn Owls

WB 11 03 2024

Barn Owls are trying out different tools to draw with in order to create Aboriginal Dot Art. We look forward to seeing their creative work.

Over the last couple of weeks Barn Owls have been involved is some of our SSP events. The Y3&4 girls went off to a football skill development day last Monday, and this week the Y4 came third in an indoor athletics event. Well done to all involved!!

Well what a great week! Our OUTSTANDING in all areas OFSTED report published, and our lovely pupils all enjoying World Book Day. Thank you so much for the wonderful outfits and fruit and veg characters! Once again they were excellent 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻 we hope they all enjoy their WBD books that they took home.

We hope everyone enjoyed the half term break. First week back led to lots of different activities at school.
In Science the Barn Owls have continued learning about Sound. This week they looked at how sound changes over a distance and also enjoyed using string telephones.

A BIG thank you to our parents for completing the OFTSED questionnaire – yes we had a visit this week! From Owlets to Eagle the pupils were fab and conducted themselves brilliantly as the Inspectors viewed our school. Well done to all, now we wait for our results🤞🏼😊
In Science this week, the Barn Owls used musical instruments to learn about pitch. They then made their own panpipes to demonstrate what they had discovered.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

After school club were able to make and eat pancakes on Shrove Tuesday 😊


WB 05 02 2024

As we head towards the end of this half term, we finished with a non-uniform Express Yourself day

.The Barn Owls are learning about Shape Poems. They have started by creating their own word calligrams and then making their own animal calligrams inspired by the Bembo’s Zoo animation.

This week the Barn Owls worked in teams to make hot air balloons, but without instructions. They worked well together to solve problems and learn from mistakes.


WB 29 01 2024

This week the Barn Owls finished writing their own informal letters inspired by Aunty Dot’s letters from her trip around the world. They presented their letters on special blue ‘airmail’ paper and they used pens!


WB 22 01 2024

Barn Owls continue with their science project of Sound. They were able to see how the sound waves created splashing water when they used a tuning fork and struck it to make it vibrate, then put it in a cup of water.

This week the Barn Owls created posters to show their learning about electricity as well as posters for their new topic Around The World in 80 Days.

The new year has begun with many different activities going on around the school.
This week the Barn Owls had a Science Day learning about electricity. They enjoyed investigating how to make and fix circuits, discovering materials that are electrical conductors and insulators, and also discovering how switches work.
