We hope everyone enjoyed the half term break. First week back led to lots of different activities at school.
In Science the Barn Owls have continued learning about Sound. This week they looked at how sound changes over a distance and also enjoyed using string telephones.
A BIG thank you to our parents for completing the OFTSED questionnaire – yes we had a visit this week! From Owlets to Eagle the pupils were fab and conducted themselves brilliantly as the Inspectors viewed our school. Well done to all, now we wait for our results🤞🏼😊
In Science this week, the Barn Owls used musical instruments to learn about pitch. They then made their own panpipes to demonstrate what they had discovered.
After school club were able to make and eat pancakes on Shrove Tuesday 😊
As we head towards the end of this half term, we finished with a non-uniform Express Yourself day
.The Barn Owls are learning about Shape Poems. They have started by creating their own word calligrams and then making their own animal calligrams inspired by the Bembo’s Zoo animation.
This week the Barn Owls worked in teams to make hot air balloons, but without instructions. They worked well together to solve problems and learn from mistakes.
This week the Barn Owls finished writing their own informal letters inspired by Aunty Dot’s letters from her trip around the world. They presented their letters on special blue ‘airmail’ paper and they used pens!
Barn Owls continue with their science project of Sound. They were able to see how the sound waves created splashing water when they used a tuning fork and struck it to make it vibrate, then put it in a cup of water.
This week the Barn Owls created posters to show their learning about electricity as well as posters for their new topic Around The World in 80 Days.
The new year has begun with many different activities going on around the school.
This week the Barn Owls had a Science Day learning about electricity. They enjoyed investigating how to make and fix circuits, discovering materials that are electrical conductors and insulators, and also discovering how switches work.
It’s beginning to feel a lot like Christmas 🎄 We enjoyed Christmas Jumper Day on Friday and had a whole school run through of Lights, Camel, Action. Looking forward to a full and fun week next week 🎄⭐️🎄
This week the Barn Owls have been working very hard rehearsing for the Christmas Play, but they have found time to finish transforming themselves into Ancient Egyptian pharaohs!
This week the Barn Owls have been learning lines and the skills to deliver them to an audience. Let’s hope they are filled with confidence after the performance next week. They will be fab 🎅🏼🎄
